Here's my prediction as a content creator and (especially) consumer...

70% of the content we'll see are those that fall under "educational content." On top of this, "high-info" content creators will rise.

Today, there are two ways one can grow their followers on social media; one is to entertain them, and two is to educate them.

Based on what I'm seeing right now, we will see fewer entertainment-inclined content. The keyword here is "see." Because I'm not saying that fewer people will try to do it. It's just that both the audience and the algorithm will prefer education-inclined content.

Why?

1. Things are just cycling.

30 years ago, loose pants are in. 20 years ago, every guy wore skinny jeans. Today, walk around the mall and it's loose pants era again. Check for the movies that were shown in the last couple of years and count how many of them are reboots of 80s and 90s films.

When I got into philosophy in high school, I always thought about how the philosophers essentially ran the world in the time of the Greeks. Then in the time of the Germans. I then wished it was the same thing today.

And voila! We got Andrew Tate. I mean... close enough? My point is the social media environment today is dominated by talks of ideals and doctrines. How men should act? Are there really just two genders? Should we take the Bible literally?

People are now more interested in conversations.

2. Entertainment is becoming a money game.

Two words: Mr. Beast. Is he the most entertaining? Not for everyone. But he's the most followed entertainment creator. Regardless of how you perceive his content, based on result, he's the current epitome of entertainment. I am personally entertained. I watch every one of his uploads.

But there's this cloud of doubt over his watchers that maybe his next video will not be more viewed, more entertaining, or more... expensive. He's even producing CGIs of blowing off the moon or the Earth to ride that "absurdity" narrative.

Sure, there are still entertaining creators who are not spending as much, but once they surpass a certain view or follower count, they will be expected to spend one way or another.

For those who refuse to surrender to the money game, they become educational creators.

3. People are questioning the educational system, and we're getting more evidence that it's not necessary.

I think formal education is important. I would love to spend my last couple of decades in the academe. I've also dreamt of being a college professor. But at its current state, it's not necessary if one only wants financial success. If you want other successes in life, school has a lot to offer.

However, it's not a secret that we're bombarded with ideals opposing the educational system. Statistically, degree holders are still more likely to succeed financially. But there are outliers, and these outliers will have the loudest stories, so they will be the evidence of people. I know, it's not logically sound, but since when did we follow logic?

I'm kinda on the fence on my take on formal education. I love it and will require my future children to do it, but I also agree that is outdated. My hope is still whole that it will undergo a much-needed revamp in the next decade, but as long as it's not yet happening, people will find ways to educate themselves.

Where they will go? Where everybody goes for everything. On the internet. Most people are already educating themselves on the internet, and this is just gonna exponentially increase in scale in the next 2 to 3 years.

Search for Sam Sulek on Youtube. The guy is a fitness content creator. He's huge, but not the largest. He still blew up! Is his content entertaining? Yes, but not in a sense we're used to. His videos are almost unedited. There are no wild transitions, no "pattern breakers" to keep the audience's attention. He just... talks. And a lot of people thinks he makes sense. That's enough to to get him from 8,000 subscribers to 2.26 million this year.

So what can you do?

Start.

This is not a new game. It's just gonna be on another level that most of us haven't seen before. The best thing you could do right now is start creating educational content, then increasing your quantity and quality as you go by. Learn, experiment, execute. If this prediction comes true, you'll be 10 steps ahead of everyone.

Also, follow me. This is a real prediction on my end and I'm really going all-in to capitalize on this. Ride the wave early. I've been creating "high-info" content for other people since 2020.

What are high-info content? High quantity and high quality. Education will be the battlefield of social media, and it will be just like a war. Whoever has the most ammunition and the best armaments will win. It's gonna be a game of endurance! Or who can create the most content consistently without losing quality (and even increasing it).

I can confidently say I have a lot to say about this because I've handled multiple clients simultaneously as I ideate, research, and write content that brought them results.
